6. Floating Stool Might Be Linked to Fat Absorption Issues
Floating poop can suggest high gas content, but frequently floating, greasy, or sticky stools may be signs of fat malabsorption.
This is often associated with:
- Celiac disease
- Pancreatic insufficiency
- Liver dysfunction
- Gallbladder disorders
Such stools may be difficult to flush, leave oily residues, and indicate that your body isn’t digesting fats properly — which could compromise vitamin absorption (A, D, E, K).
7. Blood in Stool Needs Immediate Attention
Visible blood in your poop is a cause for concern and should never be ignored. The color and location of the blood can indicate different issues:
- Bright red blood: Usually from the lower GI tract, such as anal fissures, hemorrhoids, or rectal bleeding.
- Dark, tar-like stool (melena): Indicates bleeding in the upper GI tract, potentially from the stomach or small intestine, such as ulcers.
Chronic bleeding can lead to anemia and serious health complications, requiring endoscopic evaluation.
